Using HDMI with PS3 and LCD Flat Screen TV?

I recently purchased a Sony LCD flat screen television and a PS3. I also purchased the HDMI cable; however, when I connect the HDMI cable, the PS3 asks me if I want to use the HDMI for sound and video. After I select YES, the screen goes black and I cannot use it. What could the problem be? The PS3 plays just fine using the standard red/yellow/white cable. Thoughts?

This also happened to me. I found out that you have to use BOTH the HDMI cable, and the standard AVI cable (red/yellow/white). If it doesn't work reset your PS3 (hold the power button on your PS3 for 1-2 minutes until you hear two beaps).
