can mount a 40" LCD TV to a brick wall?
Hi,
I just wanted to ask if I can mount a 40" LCD TV which weights 38 lbs to a brick wall. I have a SANUS FULL MOTION MOUNT MODEL VM400-B. The brick wall is structural and not decorative Do I need any special screws or any additional hardware?

The person with the experience in the construction trade would know looking at at brick wall if it was capable of supporting the weight. Brick is not structural, it is decorative. The problem is that the mortar in the wall does not support excessive weight as it works okay in compression, but is not normally a structural. The mortar also is very poor in sideways forces, called shear. A well constructed brick wall would work well, but if there were hidden problems in the brick wall then it may work for a period of time, and then fail. I might ask a local experienced construction person to take a look at the wall and give their opinion.
