Lcd Tv Noise Problem

Hitachi TV picture went out, still got sound?
I just bought a 50" Hitachi LCD TV that is 3 years old. It worked great for a few days then last night while watching it, it made this loud squealing noise and the screen went black. Also red blinking lights. (temp lights I think). I checked all the cables. I unplugged it overnight. Still not working. The manual troubleshooting says the lamp went out and needs replaced. I would buy one and do that if I knew for sure that was it. Does anyone know if that could be the problem or what might be? Also, how would I be able to tell if the lamp is bad. By looking at it?

Inverter board!
On LCD TV's if you have sound but no picture...inverter board! The inverter board is part of the TV's power supply and it powers up the backlights of a LCD TV. The usual culprit to failed inverters are bad or blown capacitors.
If you know how or know someone that knows how to repair electronics, the cheapest thing to do is take the inverter board out and take that to a electronic repair shop rather then the whole TV. A repair shop can fix the bad components on the inverter board for a few dollars. If you take the whole TV, you could be looking at a $100 or more bill!
