The LG 42LH3000 is a forty two inch Lcd Flat Panel screen with 1080p resolution, quality speaker system features, energy saving enhancements, and Freeview capability. This product offering from LG possesses the standard connections for gaming, surround sound, and other components (i. E. Blue-ray, PlayStation, etc.).
The 42LH3000's image quality is on par with most other comparable models. Although most product reviews on the web are fairly positive on picture quality, the LG 42LH3000's dynamic contrast ratio and frame processing rate are nothing to boast about. At 50,000:1, the LCD's dynamic contrast ratio is below most plasma screens. Furthermore, this model's frequency stands at 50-Hz which is average at best especially when viewing action packed movie scenes. The LG 42LH3000, however, does possess additional functionality to enhance its existing picture signal. A control guide program allows the viewer to modify the picture quality to enhance the viewing experience.
The most unique aspect of this model is perhaps its speaker system. The strategic placement of the speakers inside the front bezel increases the sweet spot by producing a fuller and larger sound bubble. This uniquely uniform speaker placement, referred to as the 'Invisible Speaker System' in the LG marketing specifications, has been finely tuned by Mark Levinson.
For the audiophile who desires a more hands on approach to their listening pleasure can select from one of five speaker settings: Cinema, Music, Standard, Game, and Sport. Another sound feature in the LG 42LH3000 is the 'Clear Voice 2' enhancement. Clear Voice technology is designed to enhance voices while simultaneously reducing surrounding noise thereby allowing movie dialogue to be crisp and clear. This is especially important when movies have a lot of background clatter. The LG 42LH3000 panel contains audio input ports of 20W for installing surround sound components.
For linking high definition components, such as Blue-ray players, the flat panel screen is accorded with three HDMI ports which require specific HDMI cables. Other inputs include so called Scart sockets for attaching non-HD transmitting components, such as DVD players. Computers can also be hooked up to the LG 42LH3000 using the specific PC interface.
The other unique feature in the LG 42LH3000 is its energy saving technology. The model's specifications describe three specific aspects that are standouts. For the multi-tasking viewer, there is a standby mode which utilises zero electricity. For music listening, there is a screen off function which sustains speaker sound. The third feature is an Intelligent Sensor which accounts for background light in order to determine the level of brightness to emit from the LCD screen. These features combine to make the LH3000 one of the most energy efficient LCD flat screens in the market.
One relatively universal feature that is lacking in the LG 42LH3000 is the picture in picture (PIP) functionality. Additionally, in place of a Freesat tuner, is the Freeview feature which relays land based digital signal to the LCD screen versus satellite based transmissions.
In short, the LG 42LH3000 is an uninspiring mid-tier LCD with some unique features. The black panel frame weighs a bit more than seventeen kilograms inclusive of a swivel stand. The screen also accommodates a 178 viewing angle. The cost various from retailer to retailer, but averages nearly 600 British pounds.

LED TV or Plasma, which one is better?
I saw Samsung's new LED tvs and they are pretty impressive. I've heard the plasma versus led tv versus lcd thing for the last couple years, and plasma was always voted to be best of all three. But after seeing Samsung's LEDTVs, I"d probably reconsider at this point. Is the Samsung LED tv the best of the best in terms of picture quality now?
okay I'm not talking about LCD, I'm talking about LED--slight difference. But not just any LED, but the new Samsung LED TVs series 6,7,8.
In terms of picture quality, LED and Plasma are almost even!
However, LED's are a LCD TV and suffer from LCD's inherent flaws...response time and refresh rate! Plasma response times are near instant(.001ms) and their refresh rates are now 600hz! LED LCD's response times are 2ms at best with 240hz refresh rates! This means plasma tv's still have the upper hand in pic quality...especially with fast motion content like sports, movies & gaming! Not to mention...Plasma's are much, much cheaper then LED's!
On the other hand, LED LCD's are much more energy efficient! About 40% less energy then standard LCD's and Plasma's! Whether or not this one advantage is worth paying such a wallet busting price is up to the consumer!
Me personally, I love my Panasonic Plasma TV and wouldn't trade it for a LCD any day...and that includes LED LCD's!
