I have just received the first of my new Sony w5500 series LCD TV's to review. Sony have sent me the new Sony kdl40w5500 LCD Television and I should say that it's a stunner and that's before I even opened it out of the box!

The new Sony Bravia Kdl-40w5500 is an example of the first LCD TV's to be released by Sony for 2009 and is the inheritor to the disappointing 4500 2008 series sony bravia m series

Firstly let me tell you straight away that Sony have done their homework and listened to customers who complained about the 4500 models. This is not just a re-hash Sony have actually made a great lcd television here.

Firstly, the set-up was as straightforward as could presumably be.

The picture quality from Standard definition, from both the built in digital tuner and Sky, provides a fantastic viewing experience.

Having Run Wall-E, The Dark Knight and Quantum of Solace, the picture is at worse on par with the predecessor 40W4500, if anything of better quality....absolutely breathtaking!

Sony have also made certain that the kdl40w5500 becomes the middle of your house entertainment center, the kdl-40w5500 can now be linked up to any other WI-FI device in the house so you can now watch any downloaded content from your computer straight on the new Sony kdl40w5500, this really is a great feature.

All in all I believe this is an example of the best 40" LCD televisions on the market and for just under 9 hundred Franks you can't go wrong.

Sony Televisions, which one to buy?

I am looking at buying a Sony 40" LCD TV. Any suggestions on what to look for? I have not bought a new TV in years so I need help. Also, is Sony the best?

In my opinion, Samsungs are the best. My parents have a Sony at home, and it's ok - but I have 2 samsungs and they are much nicer.

Make sure whatever TV you buy has a built in HD tuner and is at least 720p. 1080p is nice, but is only necessary if you have an HDdvd/bluray player, xbox 360, or you're going to use it as a computer monitor, since nobody broadcasts in 1080p.
